About Gem Cloggers Dance Studio

A little about us…

Dan and Leah Coffman of New Plymouth, ID have owned and directed Gem Cloggers Dance Studio since the Summer of 2006. Since then it has been a whirlwind of tapping away by hundreds of cloggers including their own five children.

Leah began her clogging life as a teenager taking classes during the infancy of Gem Cloggers while it was first getting off the ground. She has been there from practically the beginning, all thanks to her amazing Aunt Kari, the creator and founder of Gem Cloggers, who recruited her into the newly formed studio. After years of learning and clogging competitively, Leah was given the opportunity to teach and then eventually own and direct the amazing Gem Cloggers!

Dan has been clogging ever since he caught the bug during his time dating his girlfriend and future wife, Leah. How could he not get into it considering he was surrounded by Leah and her 4 sisters all clogging away and showing him how to do various steps practically 24/7?! He also became mesmerized by the performances put on by the studio’s competitive teams, including the Diamond Dazzlers, and all the fun and excitement from traveling to competitions like Nationals at Lagoon. He eventually gained the courage to join an adult class, and after a while of learning many, many steps and clogging skills was given the job of teaching. He has been teaching classes from Rec to Competition ever since, and also occasionally dances and competes with the studio’s top team, the Diamonds.

Gem Cloggers Dance Studio, thanks to its many, many talented contributors over the years including its past and current directors, teachers, clogging families, volunteers, America On Stage’s extended clogging family, and supportive community it has developed a culture of talent, showmanship, sportsmanship, friendship, love, and dance that has touched the lives of countless cloggers and will continue to do so into the future.

Yee-Haw!
